NISHINOMIYA SHELL MUSEUM

The building itself was designed by renown architecture Tadao Ando to resemble a sailboat pushed by the wind. Inside are displays of 5,000 shells of 2,000 different species affront a consistent blue décor remindful of the sea. In the garden floats the Mermaid sailed by ocean explorer Kenichi Horie. The New Nishinomiya Yacht Harbor is in the area and two more boats sailed by Horie are on display there.

How to get there: Take the Marina Park Bus from Hanshin Nishinomiya or JR Nishinomiya to Marina Park Minami.
Closed: Tuesday (Wednesday if Tuesday is a holiday), standard new years holidays (12/29 - 1/3), open all summer (7/20 - 8/31)
